About this Project
In this project, I worked extensively in Adobe Indesign to create a book spread centered around the siberian tiger. The goal was to learn the ins-and-outs of Indesign by working with lots of text and images. Book layout and typesetting is an area that I am interested in, so this project was a wonderful way for me to practice those skills and bring attention to an endangered species as well.
For the cover design, I really wanted to visualize the impact us humans have on the world around us by removing the letter "I" from the front cover and displacing them to the back cover. My goal as a designer is to reflect on the world around me and to help communicate problems and solutions for those who may not have the ability to do so themselves.
When designing the content layouts for each page, I really wanted to capture the fierce presence the tiger has out in the wild. Playing with lots of open space, I wanted it to feel like the tiger was stalking and looming around the page, waiting for its next chance to strike. For my type choices, I chose to stick with a bold, classic serif to capture the elegance and regalness of the majestic tiger.
